5 1/4" x 8"; Notice to reader, contents, lists of characters & illustrations; [xvi], [1]-346 pp., illustrated with 42 black & white drawings (including frontispiece & titlepage) by A. B. Frost (these are signed: John Henry Smith; the author/editor comments: "I have also taken the liberty of reproducing some of the sketches made by Mr. Smith. In addition to literary, artistic, and athletic gifts Mr. Smith has had the rare good fortune to--but I must not anticipate his story"). Olive green cloth with a color-printed, mounted paper panel on the front cover, with title, Frost illustration, titles gilt on spine. These age-related defects are present: light wear to cover edges & corners & spine ends, some rubbing & dusting, scratches to outer covers; inner back hinge is cracked, some light edge-tanning to pages, a few small, occasional brown spots, a few lower page corners turned-in. Slightly better than average copy of a rather fragile type of book (many were quite heavily read). Scan shows the spine & front cover. The author characterizes Mr. Smith: "John Henry Smith, who tells the story. Heir of his father, lives in Woodvale [country] club house, devoted to golf, becomes interested in Wall Street, and falls in love with Grace Harding". This golf-related novel is listed in Donovan & Murdoch: "The Game of Golf and the Printed Word 1566-1985" (1987); p. 47, # 4850; there also was a British edition, and a U.S., Fenno reprint in both cloth & paper, all in 1905. A scarce and still quite readable book. N° de ref. del artículo ABE-198249835
