And an inferior lithographic reproduction was used in his campaign biography. The artist is unknown. Herbert Wells Fay, custodian of Lincoln s Tomb, Springfield, Illinois, years ago corresponded with Mr. Barrett and his publisher, F. H. Baldwin and from the latter got permission to copy it for the first time in photography. In this form it is new to collectors. It is published by courtesy of Mr. Fay. [2] Henry B. Rankin From a copyright photograph by Victor Georg, March 1916. Autograph & Sentiment by Lincoln in Autographic Album of Henry B. Rankin. Written February 23, 1858. Autograph & Sentiment by Herndon in Autographic Album of Henry B. Rankin. Written February 23, 1858. [3] Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln This picture of Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln was made by Brady in Washington in the early days of Lincoln s administration. It meets the expectations of those who look for stately qualities, dignity of bearing, intelligence and all the elements that go to make a picture of the ideal first lady of the land, and suitable helpmate for the greatest American. Photograph from the Fay collection. Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln s Signatures Written in 1861 & 1871. [4] Abraham Lincoln This picture of Lincoln, hitherto unpublished, is from the collection of Hebert Wells Fay, custodian of Lincoln s Tomb and owner of three hundred sittings of Lincoln. It is unknown to collectors. Where, when and by whom made seems to be a mystery. It was undoubtedly made about the time of his nomination. It shows him in a characteristic thoughtful mood." The Ida Tarbell foreword (pp. 7 - [13]), begins: "The time is almost here when we shall be saying that there is no one left in the world who as a man knew Abraham Lincoln." Monaghan's comment is: "A biography by a man who claimed to have read law in Lincoln's office." (Vol. 2, p. 173). Scan shows the spine & front cover. N° de ref. del artículo ABE-524605747
