Hardcover: Condition: Very Good: First edition, first printing; original red cloth with gilt letters; clean and straight boards with sharp corners; no previous owner's marks or gift dedications, but a neat cutting from The Sunday Times of October 15, 1950, single column 2 inch x 2 inch, contains a very short, witty review of the book and is mounted to the front end paper (see images); clean and tight text block is printed in easy-to-read bold type and has no spotting or sunning. Dust jacket condition: Very Good: no losses or tears, just four tiny nicks and scuffing to some extremities; graphic front panel is fairly clean with the red title, author and publisher letters unfaded; spine is browned affecting title, author and publisher letters; rear panel has small mark not affecting reviews of Titus Groan and browning (see images).
