The comparatively little difference between the Roman and Oxford systems, will abundantly appear from Bishop M Ilvaine s remarks, during the progress of the discussion." 24 different topics are listed, including Roman ones such as Exgrme Unction, Celibacy, Saints' Days, with parallel columns from the writings of the Bishops side-by-side, comparing their positions with one another. The writer concludes that 1. Oxford Divinity is a fire-brand in the Church, 2. it is against the 39 Articles of the Church of England, 3. it is essentially Romish, and, 4. it shows the fallibility of Liturgies in preserving doctrinal integrity.Attributed to Cortlandt Van Rensselaer (1808-1860), b.
