[Publisher's Limitation Statement]: "Only 500 copies of the parts of this volume will be printed for sale [-]" Size of binder: 6 7/8 in. x 8 3/4 in., containing the 4 parts (1900-01), with tan or gray papercovers, with an art-nouveau style design by J. W. Simpson, printer's device & limitation statement printed on the back covers. Bookplate design frontispiece to Number One by J. W. Simpson, with an elaborate art-nouveau-style woodcut border to the frontispiece and title-pages of each number, also by Simpson. Bookplate designs in black on white, using various types of reproduction. 1: pp. [1]-[44], reproduces frontispiece & 14 bookplates, black on white, on one side of the page only; 2: pp. [45]-[92](pp. 91-92 are ads, including one for the Pear Tree Press, reproduces frontispiece & 15 bookplates (including E. G. Craig's Ellen Terry bookplate), black on white; 3: pp. [93]-[140] (pp. 137-139 are ads, including Pear Tree), reproduces frontispiece & 14 bookplates, black on white, and one extra plate on glossy paper (Levetus/Hunt plate), in-text designs; 4: pp. [141]-[188] (pp. 185-188 are ads), reproduces frontispiece & 12 bookplates in black on white, the Cameron designs are on semi-glossy paper, in-text designs. Four loose numbers, in a light gray, cloth-covered, wraparound, portfolio type binder with gilt-lettered titling on the spine, and on the front cover, with border design in dark green on the front cover. With the 1914 Ray Warren Irvin bookplate, on the inner front cover, and a more recent Leo Wyatt-designed bookplate, with a frog design. The paper covers of Number One are partly detatched, with paper worn off the spine, the binder shows some small chips, splits to the spine-ends, tanning to the cloth, the paper covers show some age-related tanning, chipping to edges. A very rare and quite fragile type of periodical, that ran for several years (1900- ca. 1905); this is the first volume.
