First Thus Edition 1966 of the Oxford Children's Library Series. Describes the life of two boys who end up working in the coal mines in a village near Durham circa 1900. The title is seen fairly often in old folk songs and rhymes. It has many very fine b/w drawings by Brian Wildsmith, "one of the greatest living children's illustrators'" who was himself raised in a mining village in the north of england. Blue boards with silver printing on spine which are warping. Price pencilled in one corner. No other marks. Pages yellowing slightly. Dust jacket is in protective cover and price clipped.
