The Black Book by Lawrence Durrell, First UK Edition (1973). Book in very good condition, in a similar unclipped dust jacket. The book has minor bumping to the spine ends and slight ageing to the top page edges. The dust jacket also shows some wear and ageing, including a scratch to the back panel. A very good copy of this book. (See pictures). The book was first published in Paris in 1938, because publication in Britain would have invited prosecution for obscenity. It was later published in 1960 in the USA, and was first published in Great Britain in 1973. Therefore the book gained a reputation among works like James Joyce's 'Ulysses' or D. H.
