Hamish Hamilton, London. 1961. First Edition. Hardback. DW. Illustrated in colour and black and white. The bottom edge of the boards are rubbed and the rear board is very slightly soiled. There is a very slight lean to spine and front board. The contents are clean and bright, with no ownership inscriptions. The wrapper is bright, but it is price clipped, a little worn and chipped at extremities and has a couple of small close tears along top margins and very slight loss at bottom corner of rear cover and top corner of front cover. "The courageous Bill Badger and his friend Izzybizzy, the hedgehog, decide on a holiday in their famous barge, the Wandering Wind. They set off to see the famous Plynnlynn Aqueduct which carries the canal high across a valley. No one expected any more trouble from Big Ginger and his pirate gang, but somehow these villains have managed to acquire a secret weapon which is a great danger to all law-abiding canal travellers." One of the few accounts in children's literature of u-boat warfare on the Welsh canals. A minor classic.
