"Bach on Records" is all about what was available on the old 78 rpm records, which represented , at the time, the most modern of sound reproduction. The book was written by George Marek, Music Critic for "Good Housekeeping, and Program Annotator for the Metropolitan Opera. The Foreword was written by Leopold Stokowski (1882 - 1997), who was one of the most admired conductors of the early and mid Twentieth Century. He directed a great many eminent classical orchestras. He was beloved for his contribution to Disney's "Fantasia". ************************************************ The book was published by The Four Corners Press in New York in paperback format. This is the First Edition, so identified on the verso of the title page. As well as a discography, the book contains a brief discussion of Bach's life and music, both of which are excellent. Johann Sebastian Bach was, the composer of a host of musical works of genius in a variety of genres. He is one of the world's musical immortals. Paperback format; 94 pages ; 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"; color pictorial stiff card stock wraps, stapled and glued. ******************************************* CONDITION - VERY GOOD - This is a previously owned book that shows wear, but essentially remains clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR -- Spine has a soft bump with attendant creasing to top extremity, but no creasing. Front cover has mild surface rub and a small bit of spotting (nothing egregious); cover edges display scattered small nicking (again, nothing egregious); the front cover is basically nice and clean; the rear cover has modest surface rub; the cover corner tips are softly bumped. the front corner of the top text-block has a small stain, else the edges are clean / BINDING -- Solid / INTERIOR -- The stains exhibit on the verso of the front cover, and extend in lessening degree to the first two leaves of the book - else the interior is clean and free of marking.
