Hardcover. Condición: Good Plus. Stated Ninth Edition. Here is a 106-year-old 322 page book about golf, advanced golf. In some ways the book shows its age. But overall it remains quite solid. I'm going to begin by laying out its faults. As you can see in the photographs, the lettering on the front is worn, although legible. It's quite worn/faded on the spine, though once again still legible. You can also see that the spine is darkened. To a lesser extent the rest of the covers have areas that are slightly lighter and darker. There aren't any stains per se, perhaps a little handling soiling. There's also a little bit of fraying at the top of the spine. And you can see that there is about an inch long tear at the bottom of the spine. The corners show some light wear but only one has a tiny spot of rub-through. On the inside cover adjacent to the first front end paper there is a space running from top to bottom where you can see the webbing. However, nothing is loose and after going through every single page in the book I can say that this does not recur. Not even between the rear cover and the rear end paper. So the book is actually well-bound. There aren't any loose pages. Continuing with its faults, the front free end paper has a couple of tiny tears off its middle edge and a 1/16th of an inch loss at the top right-hand corner. There is also very light spotting/foxing through to the frontispiece. There's a darkened tissue guard that has a tear at the top and is detached. The tissue guard has left its square shadow on the title page. Finally, 3 sentences are underlined in pencil on page 63 and pages 108, 109, 110, 111, and 139 have either 2 or 3 neatly penciled words (like 'stance above ball' or 'hanging lie') in the white margin of the page. You can easily erase these words if you choose to. There isn't any writing after page 139. This book is indeed instructive. There's a list of 88 illustrations. Most of them are full-page photographs. The pages are in very good condition. As I said, I went through all of them. There are only a very few spots of soiling, quite minor. On some, not many, of the backs of the pages with photographs there is Very Light spotting/foxing and in those instances you can see that same Very Light spotting/foxing on the opposite page of text. There isn't any spotting/foxing anywhere else in the book. So that's an exhaustive description of its faults. I would add again that the book has a very solid feel and the pages and photographs are generally quite clean. For anyone who loves the game and loves books about the game you may want to consider this old gem. Nº de ref. del artículo: 000890
