1982 FIRST PRINTING of First Edition. SIGNED by Fred Beckey on the title page with black ballpoint pen -- very strong signature. Original dark navy covers with gilt lettering spine, grayish blue EPs. The book has clean covers, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Beckey's signature), no foxing, tight binding. The original dust jacket has no tears, tiny scuff top front near spine corner, light crinkling upper area of front, clean, price-clipped flap corner. The book measures 31cm tall x 23cm, and has 256 pages, 140 color photos, bibliography. Thorough history of the great peaks of North America -- Alaska to Mexico to New England -- complemented with 140 outstanding color photos selected by Beckey. Author includes much from his own climbing experiences on these peaks.
