Covers in heavy laid paper; leaves in medium-weight ivory laid paper. Some tanning to cover edges (visible in photo), volumes otherwise unmarred and unmarked apart from previous owner's stamp inside front covers. Both volumes were produced in preparation for "the period of the Civil War Observance, 1961-1965." From the respective Forewords by the editors of "Ordnance: the Bimonthly Journal of the American Ordnance Association": "Harold Peterson, who wrote the text, is a recognized authority on American arms and armor. He is the author of 'American Knives' (1958), 'Arms and Armor in Colonial America' (1956), and 'The American Sword.' Robert L. Miller, the illustrator, received his training at George Washington University, Corcoran School of Art, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Washington, D.C., where he is employed as a bank-note designer."
