Descripción Columbus, OH: The Ohio Historical Society, [no date - circa 1980]., 1980. Undated reprint of the 1940 first edition. 48 pages plus covers. Staple-bound booklet; H 21.25cm x L 13.75cm. Cream-toned stiff paper covers with illustrated front cover; mild soiling to covers, some rust to top binding staple, several small brown stains along bottom edge of rear cover. Acknowledgements essay by Harry Graff, State Supervisor of the Ohio Writers' Project in which the booklet's illustrations are credited to Arthur Griffith of the Ohio Art Project with authorship to Alfred Bath, Robert A. Griffith, and Walter Richardson. Foreword by The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society Director H.C. Shetrone as the organization was the sponsor of the original 1940 publication. Published to commemorate the centennial of the completion of the Ohio stretch of the National Pike now better known as US Highway 40. The Ohio Writers' Project was particularly prolific with more than fifty publications to their credit but the first edition of this pamphlet is among their least common titles. Although this reprint has a 1940 copyright date at the foot of the title page, it is easily differentiated from the true first edition which has tan paper covers, a Stoneman Press imprint, and slightly wider dimensions of 14.5cm among other qualities. A very good copy. Description copyright David Hallinan, Bookseller. Nº de ref. del artículo: D17-2269
