THE AUTHOR: Charles Ebenezer Moyse, Canadian educator, born in Torquay, Devonshire, England, 9 March, 1852. He was educated at the independent college, Taunton, and at University college, London, and graduated at the University of London in 1874. He taught in various schools in England until 1878. when he was appointed professor of history and associate professor of the English language and literature in McGill university, Montreal. This chair he relinquished in 1886 to become professor of the English language and literature and lecturer in history in the same institution. Professor Moyse has contributed much to Canadian periodicals. He is the author of "The Dramatic Art of Shakespeare" (Montreal, 1879) and " Poetry as a Fine Art" (London, 1883).
