Group of SIX different issues, all in very good to fine condition (Most appear unread, but show light original mailing, and other, folds. Very light edgewear). Uncommon group of 6 issues of the fanzine devoted to the work of JRR Tolkien. Each issue includes news & notes, letters, feature articles & original art. This lot INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: 1. Single sided typed 8x10 sheet headed "Tolkien Journal" and below that "Issue 1 * Published by the New York Tolkien Society * Spring 1965". Page describes aims of the Society, activities of the members, future issues etc. Plotz calls himself Frodo here. 2. 3 single sided typed 11 x 14 sheets, stapled together at upper left corner. "Tolkien Journal" Issue 2, Winterfilth, 1965. Articles on the "Ace books controversy", "Bibliography of Articles of Interest to Tolkien Fans" (Levitin), "The Silmarillion", "Ring-Inscription", future of the journal & more. 3. Vol 2. No. 1, Afteryule, 1966; 7 double-sided 8x10 pages, stapled at upper left corner. Cover art by Ann Kruger; other art by Kruger & Rebecca Wenger. Articles include "The Hobbit" - the Real Story", poetry contest, A Uniform System of Tengwar for English, The Hereditary Pattern of Immortality in Elf-Human Crosses, George Mac Donald. Contributors include Matthew Hoffman, John Boardman, Cory Seidman. 4. Vol 2. No. 2, Astron, 1966; 8 double-sided 8x10 pages, stapled at upper left corner.
