Título: An interesting Manuscript account of ...
Editorial: No place July

8vo., 3 pages (approx. 400 words), written in a neat sloping hand, light stain to top left hand corner of first leaf, final blank page. The observation commences on July 10 1834 when the experimenter places sugar syrup into a spoon which he places near an open window. On the first day over a period of 6 1/2 hours the observer notes that a bee returns to feed at the spoon 54 times. The experiment was repeated over the next few days with the same result until eventually the bee is found dead upon the floor. He notes that the bee does not come to feed on any day after 8.30pm. In order to ascertain that it is the same bee that is coming each time he is able to mark the back of the bee with a fine yellow paint. This is an interesting experiment which shows that bees feed not only on plant nectar, and that the same bee can home in on a particular source of feed. N° de ref. de la librería 16355
