Winchell (1897-1972), born April 7, 1897, New York City; died February 20, 1972, Los Angeles, California; American journalist; in vaudeville (1909-20); columnist with the New York Evening Graphic (1924-29); and the New York Daily Mirror (1929-63); on NBC radio (1932-53); and also television; known for gossipy, opinionated reportage; appeared in 9 feature films and 2 short subjects.
