The "Prologue " by Edward D. Churchill does not appear in the Annals of Surgery journal issue. SIGNED BY BRADFORD CANNON AND BY FRANCIS D. MOORE. Cannon's article is "Procedures in Rehabilitation of the Severely Burned" (pp. 103-110). Cannon has inscribed: "To recall a delightful afternoon/ Bradford Cannon" ("3/17/98" written in ink, possibly by the recipient). Moore's article is "A Note on the Thrombophlebitis Encountered" (pp. 131-136). Moore has inscribed: "For Tom Harskal/ Francis Moore/ 2.26.97". Moore was a surgical resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital in November 1942. In his autobiography, A Miracle and a Privilege. Recounting a Half-Century of Surgical Advance (1995), he recounts his hospital experiences in the aftermath of the fire (pp. 59-65 and 373-375). Fifty years after the fire, Moore, Cannon, and two others contributed their recollections in the paper "The Night the Grove Burned", published in the Harvard Medical Alumni Bulletin.
