Boards betray fading and nicks and other signs of wear and imperfection commensurate with age. Aesthetic fraying on the front hinge, but the binding remains structurally sound. Notations around the signature; interior pages absent any extraneous marks. Dust jacket is in tatters, but the remains are included in new mylar to ensure future enjoyment. The fighting career of Edward Patrick Francis Eagan, an American boxer and bobsledder who is notable as being the only person to win a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in different disciplines. This work explores his development in the ring from World War I, while enlisted as an artillery lieutenant, where he won the middleweight title of the American Expeditionary Forces. Through his time at Yale University where he won the AAU's heavyweight title, and beyond. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Dr. Crampton (1877-1964) was an author, physician, professor, scientist and consultant known for his active promotion of public service, physical fitness, and hygiene. Eagan was an outstanding athlete, known as the only person to win gold medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics (in boxing and four-man bobsled respectively). From Wikipedia: "Edward "Eddie" Patrick Francis Eagan (April 26, 1897 June 14, 1967) was an American sportsman who is notable as being the only person to win a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in different events. Eagan won his summer gold in boxing and his winter gold in four-man bobsled. Finally, Eagan is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic games. Eagan studied law at Harvard University and later at the University of Oxford. In 1920, Eagan competed as a boxer at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, and won the gold medal in the light-heavyweight division. Eagan returned to the Olympics eight years later, this time as a member of the bobsleigh crew of Billy Fiske, who steered to victory at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Eagan is one of two competitors to win gold in both Olympic seasons. Later, Eagan became a lawyer, and served in the army as a colonel during World War II. " Good. No dust jacket. Signed by author.
