Hardcover, introductory text in English on pages numbered through XLII, followed by 127 pages of songs with music, plus [60] pp of introductory text in Hebrew at the back. Inscribed (personalized) presentation copy signed by Emma Lazaroff Schafer, Chairperson Publick commitee and Sinai Leichter, Chairman, Editorial Board, dated June 9, 1983. This Volume I includes an essay by Abba Kovner entitled Folksongs of a Vanished Era, and Love Songs and Cradle songs. Each song includes vocal score (treble clef) with words printed in romanized Yiddish and Yiddish, with English and Hebrew translations. According to the inscription, this copy is 'Specially hand bound." In very good condition. Cream cloth covered boards have light scuffing to edges. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked.
