Descripción Cassell and Compamy Limited, 1907. Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. We present a most handsome copy of this seminal work. The light golden brown covers are in remarkable condition for their age. The front board may be described justifiably as fine. There are no marks or scuffs. The dark brown, sans serif lettering stands out unfaded. The raised golden motif of a dog’s head within an heraldic shield is bright and perfect. The lettering and motif on the spine are in similar condition. The spine has suffered some scuffing and colour loss to both top and bottom (very slight at the top more noticeable at the bottom). The rear boards are unmarked. The heraldic blind stamp remains as visible as it is meant to be. There is some rippling to a small area of the board where the card has shrunk over time. For a book published by Cassell and Company in 1907 the pages defy their age. They are bright and white with no hint of foxing or age related deterioration. The gilt to all three edges of the page block is as bright and consistent as the day the book was published. The twenty one full page colour illustrations (many from original works of art) are a delight; one of the many attractive features of this remarkable work. A book of great importance to all who own, manage or breed dogs. The research and presentation has, in our opinion, never been surpassed. The binding on this superb copy has remained tight and square. All in all, we doubt there is a better example for sale currently. The images you see are high resolution photographs of the actual book you will receive. It will be carefully wrapped in protective packaging and sent by secure courier. We do not charge customers based in the UK for packaging and delivery. Extra photographs are available on request. We welcome direct enquiries on this book and others in our catalogue.
