Prima edizione, postuma di ben tre secoli, di una stimata biografia di Papa Alessandro VII, al secolo al secolo Fabio Chigi (Siena, 1599 - 1667). Di nobile schiatta, dopo aver conseguito nel 1625 il dottorato in giurisprudenza, lo Sforza Pallavicino (Roma, 1607 - 1667) si interessò di filosofia e di teologia, aderendo nel 1637 alla Compagnia del Gesù. Svolse proficua carriera nella corte vaticana, fino alla nomina cardinalizia, e di lui si ricorda la celebre "Istoria del Concilio di Trento" in confutazione del Sarpi. > Graesse, V, 111.
