Añadir al carrito10 x 8, wrappers, 47 pp, 36 plates, 56 pp, 36 plates, French text now placed in ring binders, title page part 2 chipped and heavily foxed corners worn and dog eared but not affecting texts or plate images. Giacomo Barozzi (1507-1573) was one of the leading architects of the Italian Renaissance, designing many noted works in Bologna and Rome. He succeeded Michelangelo as architect of St. Peters. This scarce architectural treatise is an abridgment of Barozzi's Elements of Architecture proposed by the publisher in three parts. The series was designed for use by architectural students in France and approved for use by the ministers of the King of France. Part 1, published in 1772, illustrated the five basic orders of classical architecture. Part 2, published in 1781, illustrates the accessories of the Orders including ornaments and other characteristic details. Part 3 was to illustrate the applications of these designs. It is not known whether it was published, as this edition does not appear in the National Union Catalog nor the British Museum Catalog. Each part contains 36 copper plate images on heavy rag paper all in very good condition with some light foxing ot the margins. First thus.
