Hardcover. Condición: Very Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, The Free Press= NAP). This book is in very solid condition. As you can see, the covers are very clean. The two top corners have only tiny spots of rub-through. The six edges are in excellent condition. The dark blue of the front and rear has faded and dulled on the spine. The lettering there no longer jumps out at you, but is legible. There's a crease just above the bottom edge of the spine and there's a little bit of crinkling below it. The top page edge is a pinkish red. All three page edges are very clean. The book is quite square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. The covers are also tight. The pages are exceptionally clean. I scrolled through a number of times without finding any instances of soiling. That's also the case for the white inside covers and end papers. The pages are also in excellent condition. I'm not finding any conspicuous creasing. There are no markings. There are no attachments. There is a small penned name ('Deutsch') on the front inside cover. There's no other writing to be found anywhere in the book. This 1949 first edition is pretty rare and the few other copies for sale (all lacking their dust jacket as well) are priced above mine, most well above mine. It has been translated into close to 20 languages and is one of the most frequently cited texts in social sciences (Sztomka, 2003, p. 29). The book introduced many important concepts in sociology, like: manifest and latent functions and dysfunctions, obliteration by incorporation, reference groups, self-fulfilling prophecy, middle-range theory and others' (Wikipedia). 'Since its first publication in 1949, Social Theory and Social Structure has become established as a work of central importance in the social science.
