Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the troubled history of Ireland, particularly analyzing the profound impact of English rule. It traces the story of this resilient nation through centuries of struggle, from the era of its renowned scholars and flourishing monastic schools to the grim periods of oppression and genocide brought upon by England's conquest. The author provides a comprehensive examination of the penal laws, massacres, and economic exploitation that characterized English rule, shedding light on the devastating consequences for the Irish people. Furthermore, the book explores the remarkable resilience of the Irish spirit, highlighting their ongoing fight for independence and the profound cultural legacy they have maintained despite centuries of adversity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good (Minus). No Jacket. First Edition. New York: The Irish Publishing Co., 1918. Seumas MacManus (1869-1960) wrote "The Story of the Irish Race" (1921) which has long been popular and been reprinted numerous times. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of a political work he wrote for the Irish diaspora following the Insurrection of 1916. Uncommon to scarce. [No copies WorldCat, Copac, LoC]. Copyright is 1917, but Quercus has not encountered any earlier than a 1918 date on the Title Page. Dark green cloth binding with titling and two Irish harps in gilt on the front cover. Clean text; 241 pages with two pages in the rear detailing the author's lecture-recitals. The paper quality is of a lower quality than seen in other, later copies, and is starting to tan. (Quercus suspects that the quality may have improved as popularity grew.} Gilt on spine has dulled, but the front cover remains nicely bright. Front endpapers have been removed; some penciled notes on the first page; small ding on front cover. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.…
