There were only 8 issues in total, all published in 1966. - According to Roel van Duyn, this short-lived magazine "Image" was published to highlight the "light" side of the Provo movement. This was in contrast to the more "theoretical-dogmatic" approach of the main magazine Provo.

The issue offered here is the second to last issue of this alternative Amsterdam Provo magazine. There were only 8 issues in total, all published in 1966. - According to Roel van Duyn, this short-lived magazine "Image" was published to highlight the "light" side of the Provo movement. This was in contrast to the more "theoretical-dogmatic" approach of the main magazine Provo. -- In this first edition, the stenciled, handwritten note on the second page, as found on this page in the second edition, is missing. The printed note in the second edition states that 1000 copies of this issue were seized by the police, because of the last paragraph on that page which suggests blowing up the population register.

Foolscap format, 6 leaves mimeographed n both recto and verso. Text in Dutch. The third issue of this rare and ephemeral Provo periodical, issued almost weekly for a short span of time in the summer of 1966, and acting as a more immediate counterpoint to the other Provo periodicals. As such, and along with the group's street posters, it belongs to the era of almost instantaneous publication occuring simultaneously with the the work of the Diggers in San Francisco, and the Motherfuckers and other Lower East Side groups, who brought the speed of publishing up to the speed of events from 66-67 - a seismic shift in underground print culture that also laid the groundwork for the posters and publications of 1968. Very good with some minor toning and creasing.

This issue appeared in an edition of 2000 copies, but half of them were confiscated and destroyed by authorities because of the text about the IJ tunnel. Vertical bend, and a short nick to left margin, else very good.
