The September 1970 issue of Knight (Vol. 8, No. 5) features the first appearance of the Charles Bukowski short story, Nut Ward Just East of Hollywood. This short story would be collected in Erections, Ejaculations and General Tales of Ordinary Madness (1972) The magazine is solid in Near Fine-minus condition with some wear to the covers and light foxing to the interior pages. Illustrations for this story were done by Ed Badajos, known primarily for his political cartoons, visual commentaries, and covers. He was the editorial cartoonist for the L.A. Free Press and his work appeared in The Staff and The Berkeley Barb. Badajos gained further exposure through syndication in the underground press of the '60s and '70s. His work is published in books like 'Dick! The Nixon Era' and 'Filipino Food'. Bukowski would appear in four issues of Knight between 1970-1972. Knight was published by Holloway House out of Los Angeles. Founded in 1959, Holloway also published Adam magazine as well as biographies about Jayne Mansfield and Ernest Hemingway. After the Watts riots in 1965, the company began to focus on black writers aimed at a black working-class market, a niche filled by no other publisher. Their authors included Iceberg Slim (Robert Beck), Joseph Nazel, Leo Guild, Roosevelt Mallory, Odie Hawkins and Donald Goines. Box 22.

- New York Times Book Review. Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Fine. 1st Edition. If you're a Bukowski collector and you have not purchased the Wormwood Review special issues, time is not on your side. These get harder to find and more expensive all the time. Charles Bukowski always felt Wormwood Review was the best small magazine out there and was grateful that they were one of the first to recognize his work. In return, Bukowski continued to contribute to the magazine right up until his death in 1994. Published in 1981, Wormwood 81& 82 was a double issue featuring a 20-page center section featuring 12 poems, four drawings and one short story by Charles Bukowski. There were 700 copies printed, this copy being hand-numbered #566. A Friend is a short story that has yet to be published again. The poems include: All Together Now - pg. 16 Hollywood Ranch Market - pg. 17 Edith Sent Us - pg. 19 Night School - pg. 20 The Old Pinch Hitter - pg. 22 Scarlet - pg. 23 Have A Nice Day - pg. 28 Chill - pg. 30 The Trashing Of The Dildo - pg. 31 A Bad Night For My Buddy - pg. 32 Action Down On The Corner - pg. 33 The German Hotel - pg. 34 Scarlet, Have A Nice Day, and A Bad Night For My Buddy have yet to be published again. Wormwood Review was published by the legendary Marvin Malone (1930-1996). Malone was a pharmacologist, scientific researcher, educator, artist, poetry collector, and editor. Sypher), producing quarterly issues until his death in 1996. Wormwood Review ran for 144 issues (1959-1997).
