Cloth. Condición: Fair. None Ilustrador. A scarce children's work from the 'Toy Book' genre. Published by Routledge, Warne and Routledge, this work is from the 'Aunt Mavor's Everlasting Toy Books' series titled as it is printed on to cloth to ensure that the work is sturdy when handled by children. This work discusses the history 'Of a Apple Pie' and has words beginning with most letters of the alphabet in order. It is intended as a learning tool for children. Is possibly missing a leaf with the letters 'D E and F' on. With six hand coloured illustrations. Undated, dated from Copac. The genre of 'Toy Book' were incredibly popular in Victorian England. They were useful due to their price and educational purpose. They were the first form to have dominating images and little text. Early Toy Books, such as this one, were hand-coloured by children apprentices in print-shops. Later in the century the use of chomolithography and chromoxylography were introduced. In original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart with heavy rubbing to the extremities and to the joints. Small loss to the wraps and a small amount of creasing. Handling marks and fading to both the front and rear wrap. Front joint and hinge are tender. Work is disbound from wraps. Pages are slightly age toned with light scattered spots throughout. Small loss to bottom corner of fourth page, affects the 'O' word. Fair. book.
