Reproduction of drawing of Gemeente-badhuis te Scheveningen in 1830, Facsimilé eener tekening van P.J. Goedhebuer, naar het ontwerp van den architect Z. Reijers, 1 p. Total 140 x 180 mm.Scheveningen was de eerste badplaats van Nederland. In de 19de eeuw kwam het zeebaden in zwang en met het groeiend toerisme nam het aantal voorzieningen toe. Zo opende Jacob Pronk (1762-1838) in 1818 een klein badhuis in Scheveningen. Het houten paviljoen met badhuis werd al snel vervangen door een stenen versie. Vanwege het grote succes werd op initiatief van de gemeente dit Stedelijk Badhuis of "Grand Hôtel des Bains" gebouwd in neoclassicistische stijl, naar ontwerp van stadsarchitect Zeger Reyers (1789-1857). In 1828 werd het geopend en in 1860 uitgebreid met nieuwe vleugels in de vorm van halfronde paviljoens. In 1885 verrees op de plaats van dit badhuis het Kurhaus. Dat werd een jaar later door brand verwoest en in 1887 herbouwd; nog steeds is dit gebouw een blikvanger in wat nu Scheveningen-Bad heet.  .
