These are matching sets in handsome brown buckram, with bright spine labels in red and black. Endpapers of the Constitions set are darkened, else both sets are in very good condition. Peasee served as a United States Army Major in World War I and as Commander in the United States Navy during World War II. An international lawyer, he was president of the American Peace Society and played a role in writing the Charter of the United Nations. Stassen was a delegate at the San Francisco Conference that established the United Nations, and was one of the US signatories of the United Nations Charter. Many books in his library attest to his contributions to the deep committment and global international engagement in peacemaking and the establishment of the United Nations. Volume 1 of this collection has his stamp "Stassen Publications Inc".
