Dewitt company of Chicago, Illinois, manufactured a variety of patent medicines, such as Dewitt's Diuretic Pills, Dewitt's Manzan (for rectal irritation), Dewitt's Antacid Powder, D & C Expectorant, Cream shampoo, Kodol Antacid Tablets and Liquid, Carbolized Witch Hazel Salve, coconut Oil and Pine Tar Shampoos, Dewitts Absorbant Rub, Dewitt's Anabalm. Dewitt's Aspirin, Dewitt's Hygienic Powder (for Women), Dewitt's Creosant cough relief in troches and liquid form , and many more. Though the pamphlet has the look of an almanac, it is not, but instead presents a monthly horoscope reading. There are various household and personal tips through the book , but the main thrust is as promotion for E. C. Dewitt products. The book is illustrated throughout with amusing line cartoons, As we can see from the back cover, this particular copy was distributed by druggist Raymond K. Matteson of West Winfield, New York.
