Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. C. Walter Hodges Ilustrador. First Edition. 1952. First edition. viii, 231pp., frontispiece and 13 other full-page black and white illustrations, and illustrated endpapers. Rosemary Sutcliff (1920-1992) was a leading writer of historical novels, enjoyed by adults and children. She is probably best known as the author of 'The Eagle of the Ninth' (1954) and 'Warrior Scarlet' (1958). The present novel is set in the southern counties of Elizabethan England, and tells of a band of strolling players as they wander the dusty roads. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with silver titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with light bumping to the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with light foxing to the rear endpapers. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and the spine is slightly faded. Small pieces are missing from the corner tips and about 1/8" is missing from the bottom of the spine and parts of the top of the spine. Small tears at the to of the spine have been repaired on the reverse with tape and there is an unrepaired tear of about 3/4" on the top front edge. A piece measuring about 1/2" x 3/8" is missing from the near the top corner of the front fore edge. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
