Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. C. Walter Hodges Ilustrador. Second Impression. 1957. Second impression. 235pp., frontispiece and 10 other full-page black and white illustrations, an in-text illustration at the start and end of the book, and illustrated endpapers. Rosemary Sutcliff (1920-1992) was a leading writer of historical novels, enjoyed by adults and children. She is probably best known as the author of 'The Eagle of the Ninth' (1954) and 'Warrior Scarlet' (1958). The present novel is set in the days of Henry VIII. It tells of a little girl called Tamsyn, who was like any other girl except that she had one unusual passion: she loved ships. The story tells of how she leaves her Devon home by the sea and goes to live with a lively family in London. At first her new life in Tudor London and her longing to be among ships make her homesick, but she gradually settles down and discovers that her cousin, Piers, shares her love for the sea. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with silver titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with a small faint stain around the top corner of the front board. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing to the fore edge of the text block and fore margin of the last few pages. There is partial offsetting from the illustration on the endpapers on the half-title page and back of the last page of the book. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and rubbing down the spine edges. Small pieces are missing from the corner tips and bottom of the spine and about 1/4" is missing from around the top corners of the spine and a small part of the top front edge. There is a tear of about 1" on the bottom rear spine edge that then extends across the spine, and the tear has been repaired on the reverse with tape. There is an unrepaired tear of about 3/4" on the top front edge. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
