Signed by the author, Martinez de Leon, Seville 1959 on the front free endpaper. In 1954, Los Amigos del Toro was reissued as a title under the Aguilar publishing label in a pocket format (not landscape as if it was the first edition) and with the subtitle Bullfighting: Its Ills and Its Remedy. It was âsignedâ by De Leonâs popular long-standing character Oselito. In this book, MartÃnez de Leà n transmitted his philosophy of bullfighting, festive but not devoid of love for the orderly regulation of the Fiesta. The book reissued in its pages 137 to 166 the comic book The Friends of the Bull or the Healthy Part of the Hobby. The book was one of the works of Spanish authors that went unnoticed because of its quality as a hybrid and its unique use of humor in post-war Spain. Following Evaristo Acevedoâs statement that between 1939 and 1969, âhumor did not exist,â in Spain, Tubau did not cite this book or other works by MartÃnez de Leà n in his review of the graphic humor of the Spanish postwar period. The reissue of bullfighting regulations according to Oselito could have something to do with the authorâs desire to return to graphic humor. 8vo.…
