Not an ex-library copy, this First U.S. Edition is in VG- condition with a little bit of slightly rough surface in center of front loose end page from removal of a bookplate, some foxing on the paste down and loose end pages front and back, and some slight yellowing of text's pages over time. From Wm. Campbell Steere's Foreword, "The stunning internationally recognized species and varieties chosen for this most colorful and superbly crafted book give a broad and beautiful overview of this fascinating flower. The dictionary entries are truly international and will give the reader an excellent and up-to-date[for that time] basis for the selection of the most suitable species, hybrids, and cultivars for his purpose. .
