Paperback. Condición: Very Good. This new series combines the best features of 'Landscapes' with all the detail you would expect in a hefty general guide, but they are all pocket size and in full colour. The Lycian Peninsula takes in a very large area - running between Antalya and Lake Koycegiz south to the sea. It is impossible to do justice to the entire spread and feature walks in one book, so this volume concentrates on the region between Kas (including Kekova to the east) and Lake Koycegiz. This companion book, covering the stretch from Antalya to Demre, takes in the rest of Lycia. Historical descriptions of the wild, fissured Lycian coastal region abound with superlatives. It has been called the most beautiful in Turkey. And the landscapes that sent so many writers into raptures have not changed for centuries. Despite all the hymns of praise, the peninsula's thinly populated coastal strip long remained untouched by tourism. It was so isolated that for a short time it even became a place of exile. Today, thanks to the many flights into the airports at Antalya and Dalaman, millions of visitors happily spend their holidays in the places where unwanted dissidents were once forcibly detained. The coverage includes: getting there and getting about; recommended accommodation, campsites and restaurants (all with prices); practicalities A-Z; history; 15-20 main walks with many variations, all with large-scale topographical maps; fold-out area maps; detailed town plans showing locations of all sights, hotels and restaurants; and many 'feature' panels. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. If holidays are about new experiences, then this pocket guide solves two problems - where to enjoy walking in Kefalonia and where to find some good, traditional food. There are strolls for hot days and longer walks to work up an appetite. And if you're just after some recommendations for where to eat out in Kefalonia, you need look no further! There isn't much information available for walking on the island, and this book brings together ten of Kefalonia's best walks. They are spread all round the island and there is at least one near every major resort. For each suggested restaurant there is a photograph of the decor and one of their dishes, plus sample menu, price guide, opening times, and a recipe for one of their specialities. Other sections include: planning your trip, logistics on arrival (using public transport, tourist information, shopping), local markets and specialities, glossary of local food terms, and a restaurant mini-vocabulary. A special feature is the emphasis on natural local foods suitable for those with food intolerances. All recipes have been made by the authors and are known to 'work'. 10 walks; 2 excursions - one to the neighbouring island of Ithaka; town plan of Argostoli; area map; large-scale (1:35,000) topo maps for the walks. Free online update service with specific route change information on the publisher's website, maintained daily. This was an absolutely invaluable book.I have to be honest, I was more interested in the eating than the walking because when we last went to Kefalonia the food was pretty average. We went to a lot of the featured restaurants and they were all fantastic. We even ended up doing some of the walks. --(SC, Amazon) I spent a week on Kefalonia with this book and I have no idea what I should have done without it. The walks are easy and can be done by everyone. After the walk the selection of places to eat seemed superb to me. --(HH, Amazon) We went to Kefalonia to sail, but I picked up your book for the restaurant information. At Fiskardo we tied up just in front of the Captain's Cabin, where we had the best risotto (prawn) ever! After supper it was still light, so we strolled along part of Walk 6, which was lovely. --(PL, London). The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. 4 car tours, 50 long and short walks, 30 picnic suggestions. Gran Canaria is gaining in popularity among countryside enthusiasts, and especially walkers, due to publicity about the old 'caminos reales' centuries-old cobbled trails criss-crossing the island, which have recently been restored with EU funding. Gran Canaria has always been underrated as a holiday destination for lovers of the countryside, due to the fame of its sand-dune beaches and hours of sunshine. But those who know the island would agree that it is truly a 'continent in minature', with a fantastic diversity of landscapes. From the hub of the cumbre, the island's great saddle, ravines (barrancos) are born and fan out seaward like spokes on a wheel. Each has its own little secret to share. In the Barranco de los Cernicalos there are knee-deep grasses and a chuckling stream; the Barranco de la Aldea hides an emerald-green reservoir; the Barranco de Guigui opens out to an incomparable beach. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. This pocket-sized full-colour guide to walking in Madeira is designed for visitors who would like to combine some enticing walks with the best local cooking. Many of the walks are along the 'levada' paths so beloved of visitors. Levadas are watercourses that carry rainfall from the mountains to irrigate the cultivated terraces. But even 'non-walkers' will appreciate the recommendations for eating out in Madeira. For each suggested restaurant there is a photograph of the decor and one of their dishes, plus sample menu, price guide, opening times and a recipe for one of their specialities. Other sections include: planning your trip, logistics on arrival, local markets and specialities, glossary of local food terms, and a restaurant mini-vocabulary. A special feature is the emphasis on natural local foods suitable for those with food intolerances. All recipes have been made by the authors and are known to 'work'. The 13 walks are dotted all around the island, and are of the easy-to-moderate grade. But note: There is some overlapping of walk routes between this book and 'Landscapes of Madeira' by the same authors. Do check the contents of both guides to compare coverage and see which book might best suit you. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Paperback. Condición: Very Good. All the authors have been visiting Turkey for many years, writing general and walking guides. Dean Livesley was one of the original developers of the famous Lycian Way, Turkey's first long-distance footpath. Besides being intrepid explorers, Brian and Eileen Anderson are botanists and keen cooks! They guide you through the most beautiful landscapes of the region. A Turkish poet once described the area between Bodrum and Marmaris as 'terrifyingly' beautiful. Silver-leaved olive groves and wild inland mountains yield up the stone remains of ancient civilisations. The dazzling multi-coloured bays, framed by fissured cliffs and collared with golden sand, are the stuff of dreams. Snuggled into the coves are romantic fishing villages, where you will be greeted with genuine Turkish hospitality. And in Bodrum and Marmaris you can mix with the Turkish jet set. In some old mountain villages and along isolated sections of the coast, there are more and more small quiet places to stay. This new series combines the best features of 'Landscapes' with all the detail you would expect in a hefty general guide, but they are all pocket size (the page size is just 15mm wider than 'Landscapes' books) and in full colour. Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Malta, Gozo and Comino attract hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, most of them from Britain, Italy, Germany and Scandinavia. Many are lured by the typical Mediterranean weather; others see Malta as a change from the Spanish 'Costas', while British ex-servicemen and their families, once stationed here, come back for a nostalgic look at how things have changed. Not everyone stays around the hotel pools or heads for the nearest beach and many people prefer touring or walking in the countryside. The Maltese landscape offers rich rewards for those who enjoy exploring: interests in ancient and modern history, military and ecclesiastical architecture, geology, and flora are all well catered for. If this will be your first visit to the Maltese Islands, sampling a few of our walks and tours will be a perfect introduction. This new 4th edition has been thoroughly updated to reflect changes that have taken place since the third edition was published. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Pocket-sized full-colour guide describing eight car tours and 37 main walks (with many variations). Umbria promotes itself as 'Italy's Green Heart', and this description applies equally well to the lesser-known neighbouring region of the Marche. The main focal points of this guide are the two most beautiful areas of the Apennines in the area - the idyllic, deeply-etched valley of Valnerina in Umbria and the legendary Monti Sibillini which rise to almost 2500m and lie mainly in the Marche. Naturally there is a wealth of art and architecture to be seen en route, whether you travel by car or on foot: everywhere you go, you come upon villages, castles, monasteries and farms which even today make beautiful pictures straight out of the Middle Ages. The guide contains fold-out touring maps, large-scale (1:50,000) topo walking maps and transport timetables for all the walks (where relevant). Free on-line update service. Series (50 destinations) dubbed 'the blue Bibles' by the Sunday Times. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
