The diode could not instantaneously support a second pulse becasue of the effective short circuit provided by the interelectrode plasma associated with the first pulse. Very good. Using the VEBA pulse generator and a field emission diode with a titanium foil anode, relativistic electron beams have been produced and injected into the atmosphere. These beams were observed to expand and contract at the betatron wavelength as they propagated throught the atnmosphere and to become unstable. Good. Staple holes at front edge.
