Her spirit was led through the whole range of emotions with Hannah; the loyalty and sweetness of Ruth made many of my days serene; she was ashamed with Salome; the fragrance of Mary's spikenard distilled adoration into herown heart; She walked with the Marys in the crowd that followed the blessed Lord, and felt the heartbreak of the Magdalene at the foot of the cross. The author found it delightful and compensating, to meet the women of the ages long since covered with the dust and debris of earth and unreality, and to find that they were surprisingly much like us.
