In Great Britain the Royal Family was top of the demand. However, usually, the original photographer was carefully chosen and they had type of monopoly of the sale of these images. Lesser photographic artists cold easily find a market for 'copies' of these popular images.They were usually contemporary to the original, mounted on cards lacking any identification, and subsequently not as sharp and clear an image. This image shows the Royal couple, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra on the death of Queen Victoria, in the Wedding finery. They were married on 10 March, 1863.
