All but a strip 1.2 miles wide along the quadrangle's northern boundary lies within the Colville Indian Reservation. Roads are in general poor, and habitations are few (remember this in 1964). The northeast corner of the e State of Washington is geologically one of the most p poorly known areas in the Untied States.
