Los retratos en este libro fueron tomados por fotógrafos anónimos (los llamados "lambe- lambe") en las calles de Belo Horizonte, Brasil, sin la intención de ser vistos por un público general. Las fotografías fueron tomadas inicialmente para clientes privados quienes necesitaban retratos para usos administrativos. Los negativos se imprimían una vez y luego se arrojaban al alcantarillado donde los encontró el artista alemán Joachim Schmid, quien los fue recuperando en el transcurso de diez años. Para Schmid, esta colección de retratos es un tesoro. Los fotógrafos utilizaron equipos muy sencillos y procesaron los rollos y el papel de forma rápida, sin considerar un registro de la obra. A pesar del proceso poco artístico, o quizá por ello, las imágenes son tan llamativas e intensas como muchos de los retratos de los maestros de este género. En conjunto conforman un retrato colectivo de la población de la ciudad compuesta al azar, y son a la vez un documento de una era pasada, reemplazada por la limpieza del proceso de fotografía digital, que no deja basura a la vista en las calles. *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente.
