He was also a prominent environmental activist.

The ubiquitous BOMC edition of the book has cheap laminate boards that are slightly glossy and no price on the jacket, although first edition is stated and there is no blind stamp. A confusing situation that leads to many BOMC copies being sold as if they were first editions. The first state of book is in dark brown boards with 3 prices on the front jacket flap.
