Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good. Eye-catching and attractive original artwork for fountain pen promotion. Besides using watercolors, the artwork uses mounted pieces, also painted, some of which are precisely shaped, as well as cut-outs of photographs. Some of the cut-out pieces were printed, with the color then added, as with a cut-out of a man and woman. Products advertised include the company's Platignum line, Platignum being its trademarked word meant to suggest platinum, a word that couldn't be trademarked, as well as its '46' Fountain Pen. N.d., but we know the '46' fountain pen with the gold nib was made in 1950 and has the look of fountain pens from the late forties, early fifies, and the poster draft here features a man and a woman dressed in the fashions of that time period, with the woman in a dress in the mode of Dior's New Look. The largest of the drafts/proofs, advertising the Mentmore '46' Fountain Pen, measures 76 by 51 cm. The smallest of the advertisement drafts is 55 by 44 cm. All of the drafts are on a thinner paper which was then mounted onto heavy card, or so we assume -- the thinner paper could have been mounted already when the work was commencing. The Mentmore Manufacturing Company, based in London, was founded in 1919. The poster drafts have finger smudges in the margins, some scattered soiling and dustiness, and the edges can be worn, with some corners bumped and slightly chewed. The back of one of the drafts has a To/From printed and typed label from which we know the entity, although not the actual artist(s), responsible for the draft. The Metal Box Company doesn't sound like an advertising agency to us, but from the label it is clear that they handled the creation of these drafts. It is also noted on the label that small changes were to be made, so from that we can infer these poster drafts are truly unique. Nonetheless, we would consider the posters well-preserved pieces of advertising artwork.
