Condición: Very good. - A 6-1/4 inch high by 7-3/8 inch wide hand-colored engraving on a 7 inch high by 8-1/8 inch wide sheet of laid watermarked paper. The engraving, titled in Dutch and French, is attractively hand-colored in pastel shades. "La Haye" is discreetly penned below the French title with a number centered at beneath the image. Near fine. The copperplate engraving is attributed to the print maker Adolf van der Laan. Daniel Marot II may be the artist who created the drawing.

The exquisite illustrations are clean and bright and any text is firm. A 17-18 century French-born master of invention - latterly to England's William III - in the style of the time and full of wit and charm, which our later 20th century illustrator, Rex Whistler, found enthralling.
