Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Dated 1980, inscribed and boldly signed by the subject, the great American tenor Jan Peerce, in black felt-tip to the half-title page. Number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2, only -- the second printing. Book grades "very good" but the dust jacket is "good only" with rub to edges and an unsightly "sticker pull" to the very center of the front panel (please see scans), damaging the color portrait there of the subject, Jan Peerce. Born Jacob Pincus Perelmuth on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Peerce started in the Catskills as "Pinky Pearl and His Dance Society Band," became known for singing "The Bluebird of Happiness" at Radio City Music Hall, debuted with the Metropolitan Opera in 1941 (where he sang Alfredo in "La Traviata," Don Jose in "Carmen," Canio in "Pagliacci," the Duke of Mantua in "Rigoletto," etc.) and made his Broadway debut at the age of 66 as Tevye in "Fiddler On the Roof." Musical memoir / biography. 326 pp. including index. Reduced from $14. Inscribed by Author(s).
