Professor, 1917 Primarius an der Gynäkologischen Abteilung der Rudolfstiftung und 1921 Ordinarius und Direktor der II. Univ.Frauenklinik. Graz Medizin, wurde 1896 promoviert und entschied sich nach Assistenzen am Hygiene-Institut und an der Chirurgischen Universitätsklinik für die Gynäkologie. Seit 1902 klinischer Assistent in Heidelberg, habilitierte er sich dort 1904 mit der Arbeit "Beiträge zur Anatomie der Tubenschwangerschaft" und ging 1908 als Erster Assistent an die II. Universitäts-Frauenklinik in Wien. Seit 1912 a.o. Prof., übernahm er 1921 die Leitung der II. Universitäts-Frauenklinik. Er befaßte sich vor allem mit Mißbildungen der weiblichen Geschlechtsorgane sowie mit Uteruskarzinomen und Ovarialtumoren (u.a. Klinik und operative Behandlung der Krebsformen der Gebärmutter, 1927). Die geringen Zuflüsse, die unser Wöchnerinnenfond erhält, sind kaum im Stande allen armen Patienten meiner Klinik eine kleine Weihnachtsfreude bereiten zu können. Durch Ihre Spende aber wird es mir zum Teil ermöglicht [.]". - Der Gynäkologe Kermauner wirkte als Primar am Kronprinz-Rudolf-Kinderspital und ab 1921 als Vorstand der II. Universitäts-Frauenklinik des allgemeinen Krankenhauses in Wien. Zu seinen Hauptarbeitsgebieten gehörten die Teratologie und die histologische Diagnostik des Gebärmutterkrebses.
