"Der Taunus" is a lovely book of photographs of the mountainous Taunus region of Hesse in Germany. There are 48 lovely black-and-white photographs by German author Helmut Bode, who also wrote the text. The book was published by Karl Robert Langewiesche Bücherei in Königsteinim im Taunus. It is full of dramatic black-and-white halftone photographs depicting the towns, countryside, architecture and arts of the region. Some beautiful photographs of old castles and buildings dating from late medieval times. The book's cover and title page are printed in old black-letter German, but the text in the book is a modern typography. This book just about circled the world to get to where it is - published in Germany it traveled to Santiago, Chile where it was sold by Libraria Eduardo Albers, the bookshop label of which is affixed to the front dust-jacket flap; and from thence it traveled who-knows where - until it came to rest in our shop - and then on to you! The bookshop label is handsome - and is certainly nifty for those who, like myself, collect such bookstore ephemera. DUST - JACKET - VERY GOOD - Weathering & rub along edges; bumps to corner tips; nicking and rub along spine panel and panel folds; mild over-all surface rub - else clean and presentable.
