Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. The work by one of the key players in European art after 1960.Dutch artist Jan Henderikse is a pivotal figure in twentieth-century art: since the 1950s, his work has developed beyond the traditional notions of painting and sculpture, to redefine the coordinates of artistic imagery. First, by neutralizing the surface into the monochrome; then, since 1959, by employing unconventional materials and techniques in "allover" compositions that mark his distinctive language. Looking for everyday used objects (such as empty crates, bottles, corks, license plates, coins, bills, parts of toys, found photographs, and others), which he perceives as loaded with human and emotional content and interest, Henderikse combines them into assemblages and serial accumulations, sequences and multimedia installations, in order to show the immediate power of their significance.Born in Delft, the Netherlands, in 1937 Jan Henderikse Henderikse moved to Cologne in 1959, and shortly thereafter to Duesseldorf. While in Duesseldorf, one of the epicentres of the post-war European avant-garde, Henderikse made contact with the circle of international ZERO artists, and engaged in a close friendship with German ZERO-artist Guenther Uecker. Starting in 1959, Henderikse developed a highly distinctive visual language, focusing on assemblages, readymades and installations. In 1968 Henderikse moved to New York, working mainly with assemblages of found objects and photographic sequences. His works can be found in the collections of museums around the world, and in 2014 and 2015 were featured in the ZERO exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The artist currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York and Antwerp, Belgium. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. The Peruvian artist Jorge Eielson is a pivotal figure in the twentieth century art, whose importance is gradually garnering international attention.Poet and writer, even before than visual artist, Jorge Eielson (Lima, 1924 - Milan, 2006) has always explored forms of artistic communication that deliberately express the contamination and the dialogue between different specificities and cultures, beyond assimilated conventions and established practices. The experimental and radical dimension of his work led him to condense the different aspects of his creativity into his essential artistic works, without renouncing to a narrative and symbolic dimension. The monograph, realised in collaboration with the Archivio Jorge Eielson and with the Centro Studi Jorge Eielson in Florence, brings together a series of highly significant examples of his work, to retrace the key stages in his creative career. The book and the London exhibition intend to emphasize the persuasive relevance of Eielson's poetics in its global communicative dimension, also proven by being a source of inspiration for the Peruvian pavilion at the last Venice Architecture Biennale in 2018. The latter was characterized by an installation of 250 square meters, with an entrance panel featuring 447 knots representing the 447 "huacas" present in Lima, creating a dialogue between architecture and environment, and between memory and modernity Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: New. The book retraces the inventive richness of Pietro Consagra (Mazara del Vallo, 1920 - Milan, 2005), one of the most seminal figures on the international art scene of the 20th century. It proposes a comparison between different moments in the artist's creative path, thus making it possible to emphasise both the elements of continuity in his work, but also and above all the specificities of the individual periods, offering a varied panorama of his continuous reinventions of forms and his experimentation with materials. Francesca Pola identifies Consagra's path not in a purely chronological sense, but rather according to a reading key highlighting the importance of the relationship between sculpture, space and observer: a specific focus on the "location" of the plastic presence in relation to the observer, the fulcrum of the characteristic "frontal sculpture" codified by Consagra starting from his famous Colloqui of the early 1950s and contextually theorised as early as his book Necessità della scultura (1952).Text in English and Italian.
