Añadir al carritoSoftcover. Condición: Fine. Leichte Risse. "Science is a tool to think with, just like art." This publication contains transcriptions of conversations between the artist Alexandra Hunts and Charles M. Marcus, professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. Roland Barthes famously wrote: "Interdisciplinarity consists in creating a new object that belongs to no one." This epistemological homelessness echoes through both Hunts' and Marcus's immigrant condition, and the histories of 20th-century art and science.

The critically-acclaimed Danish artist group SUPERFLEX, founded in 1993 by Jakob Fenger (b. 1968), Bjørnstjerne Christiansen (b. 1969), and Rasmus Nielsen (b. 1969), create humorous and playfully subversive installations and films that deal with financial crisis, corruption, migration, and the possible consequences of global warming. The artists describe their practice as the provision of "tools" that affect or influence social or economic contexts, and often root their projects in particular local situations, inviting the participation of viewers. Their work poses questions of political, economic, and environmental behavior and responsibility. This catalogue accompanies the group's first major museum survey in the United States and highlights video, sculpture, and installation works relevant to the history, present, and future of cities like Miami, poised on the leading edge of pressing issues such as climate change and immigration.Co-published by Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College (MOAD), Superflex: We Are All in the Same Boat includes an introduction by the exhibition's curator, Jacob Fabricius, Artistic Director of Kunsthal Aarhus, essays by Stephanie Wakefield and Gean Moreno, and George Yudice, and a fictional text about water, flooding, and the future of Miami by science-fiction writer Mark von Schlegell.EXHIBITIONNovember 15, 2018 April 21, 2019Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College (MOAD), MiamiThe critically-acclaimed Danish artist group SUPERFLEX, founded in 1993 by Jakob Fenger (b. 1968), Bjørnstjerne Christiansen (b. 1969), and Rasmus Nielsen (b. 1969), create humorous and playfully subversive installations and films that deal with financial crisis, corruption, migration, and the possible consequences of global warming. Añadir al carritoTrade Paperback. Condición: Used - Very Good. Moments spent in elevators, check-ins at airports, subway rides-these are all examples of the kind of 'in-between' time that fascinates Walead Beshty and supplies so much of the material for his photographs. 'In-between time' applies to civic space, too-depopulated modernist housing developments that sit precariously between evacuation and demolition (explored by Beshty in his 'Excursionist Views'), plants, weeds and vegetation on isolated highway medians ('Island Flora'), or abandoned shopping malls ('American Passages'). More recently, Beshty's adventures in 'the in-between' have become a means of production, as he makes creative use of such mundane procedures as air travel or sending a package. This monograph presents a ten-year overview of Walead Beshty's approach to photographic and sculptural representation, and contains newly commissioned essays by Suzanne Hudson and Nicolas Bourriaud, as well as a conversation between Bob Nickas and Beshty. Very nice clean, tight copy free of any marks.
