He was the editor of the "Massachusetts Bay Colony Records" and author of "A Topographical and Historical Description of Boston." His excellent library of regional Americana and genealogy was auctioned the year after his death, in a multi-day sale consisting of 1790 items. This catalog has been annotated in manuscript with prices realized. which are as interesting as the listings themselves. Mather's "Magnalia Christi" brought $22.50.
